Philosophical Statement

 The absolute belief in the ability of the brain to recover motor control under the proper conditions is the philosophical basis of this therapeutic intervention.  The role therefore of the health care professional is to create those conditions of practice that enhance recovery of motor control.  Neuroscientific research has pinpointed the qualities or characteristics of practice that are requirements for accessing recovery.   Having continued to study the research in the area of Recovery of Motor Function  handling strategies  have been created that lead to the accomplishment of this goal.  Forced Use handling strategies are the clinical conditions that harness this process.  This requires an increased level of intensity in the use of the involved body segments as well as a disallowance of the over use of the less involved arm or leg in compensatory patterns of movement.  The increase in intensity is not only on the level of use but also in terms of strength  and coordination of the involved side.  The  courses in the application of the Bobath philosophy as well as more advanced courses in this area of handling that all include the application of forced use strategies  have been developed to enhance the therapists ability to accomplish the recovery of motor control. A series of courses that has been developed to teach the therapist how to apply forced use in a clinical setting  using any level client.  The handling is done in segments of 6 hours per day for no less than one week at a time.  The usual time required for causing significant change in motor control is  two  or three weeks at six hours per day.

 I was trained by Karl and Berta Bobath, Jan Utley  to believe in recovery of motor control at a time before there was significant research to back up this belief.  I also learned from the Bobaths and Jan Utley and Isabelle Bohman that part of our responsibility as health care providers was to constantly acquire the new knowledge about motor control provided by research and develop new and more effective handling strategies in order to bridge the gap between research and clinical application. Together with Jan Utley I  have developed handling strategies compatible with the Neuroscience research in Forced Use and recovery of motor control in order to operationalize our belief in the endless potential for motor  recovery.

Philosophische Erklarung

Unsere Philosophie basiert auf dem Glauben an die Fahigkeit des Gehirns, mit den richtigen bedingungen therapeutischer Intervention motorische Kontrolle wieder zu erlangen.  Gesundheitsanbieter haben deshalb die Pflicht, die praktischen Bedingungen zu schaffen welche die Wiedererlangung motorischer Kontrolle fordern.  Neuralwissenschaftliche Forschung hat die Qualitiat oder Charakteristik der therapeutischen Praxis prazisiert, die fur die Wiedererlangung der mortorischen Funktionen studiert und Handhabungsstrategien der "Forced Use" ( Forcierter Gebrauch) sind die Klinischen               Bedingungen, die diesen Prozess ermoglichen.  Erhohte Intensitat des Gebrauchs der Behinderten Korperteile zusammen mit der Verhinderung des Kompensierenden Gebrauchs des weniger behinderten Korpergliedes sind dazu notwendig.  Zugleich mussen die betroffenen Korperteile sehr intensive gebraucht werden, nicht nur in der Tatigkeitsbewegung, sondern auch in Kraft und Koordination.  Wir unterrichten Kurse in der Anwendung der Bobath Philosophie, sowie fortgeschrittene Kurse in dieser speziellen Behandlungstechnick.  Alle kurse beinhalten die Anwendung von "Forced Use" Behandlungsstrategien zur Entwicklung von motorischer Kontrolle.  Zudem bieten wir auch eine Reihe von Kursen an, die wir entwickelten um Therapeut/Innen zu unterrichten wie man "Forced Use" in der Klinik und fur jede Stufe von Kunde anwendet.  Die Behandlung wird in Zeitabschnitten von 6 stunden taglich wahrend nicht weniger als einer Woche pro Behandlung durchgefuhrt.  Normalerweise genugen 2 bis 3 Wochen mit taglich 6 stunden, um einen bedeutsamen Wechsel in der motorischen Kontrolle zu erreichen.  Sowohl  Ich habe von Karel und Berta Bobath und Jan Utley gelernt an die Wiedererlangung der motorischen Kontrolle zu glauben,  lange bevor dieser Glaube durch Forschung unterstutzt wurde.  von den bobaths haben wir auch gelernt, dass Gesundheitsanbieter dafur verantwortlich sind, die neuesten Ergebnisse der Forschung konstant in unsere Behandlungsmethoden einzuarbeiten und neue Methoden zu entwickeln um die Kluft zwischen Forschung und klinischer Behandlung zu uberwinden.

What We Do 

 Recoveryinterventions  involves both teaching specialized courses for the Therapist that handles clients with Neurological problems.  Another very important aspect of what we do is to ourselves Handle Clients.   

All of the Bobath courses adhere to the rules and regulations of  the IBITA organization.

There is also a newly created  series of advanced courses that are for the health care professional that continues to strive for a higher level of expertise in handling.  These advanced handling courses are in the area of Functional Activities, construction of Orthotics, Mobilization for the client with Neurological problems, and Forced use Handling Strategies.

Was Wir Tun

Recoveryinterventions als Praxis enthalt sowohl Unterricht als auch Behandlung.  Wir unterrichten spezielle Kurse fur Therapeut/innen die Betroffener mit neurologischen Problemen behandeln.  Ein wichtiger Teil unserer Tatigkeit ist selbst Betroffener zu behandeln.  Alle Unsere Bobath Kurse halten sich an die Regeln und Vorschriften der IBITA Vereinigung.

Auch eine neue Serie von weiterfuhrenden Kursen war entwickelt die darauf hinzielen, eine hohere Stufe der Behandlungsexpertise zu erreichen. Diese Kurse behandeln die Gebiete der Funktionellen Tatigkeiten, des Bauens von Orthotics, Der Mobilisierung von Betroffener mit Neurologischen Problemen, sowie Strategien der "Forced Use" Behandlung.
